How to verify your Tinder account without a phone number

We all spend quite a lot of time browsing the internet, around 62% of the world’s population uses the internet. Not only that but in 2021 the average social media user spent 145 minutes online on a daily basis. That’s pretty crazy, right?

Society has become so dependent on the internet that some claim that they cannot live without their phone. Although there’s a short line between enjoying something to the fullest and addiction, the good impact the internet has on the world is undeniable. One good example of that can be seen through the pandemic. We all went through some rough spots at the beginning of 2020, but the internet kept us informed and entertained, and it also helped others to boost their business and some to create their own.

Many people use the internet to find motivation, tips on lifestyle, recipes and educational programs, while some others use it to find love. Thanks to pages like Tinder, people are able to meet new people near them, without leaving home. Tinder is best known as a social dating app that works as a geosocial networking platform. Users must fill in their bio and add pictures of themselves in order for other users to “Swipe Right” or “Swipe Left” to their profile, and for them to do the same with others.

“Swiping right” means you like the other person’s profile, and “Swiping left” means the opposite. To speak with other users, you both need to swipe right on each other, which is called a “making a Match”. Tinder has other features like messaging and face-to-face, which allows users to text and video chat with each other without interchanging phone numbers, helping to protect users’ privacy.

Other useful features are the Instagram connection, which allows you to view users’ Instagram profiles, a panic button that can be used in need of emergency assistance, and a traveler alert for the LGBTQ+ community. This feature allows users of the community to hide their profile when traveling in a country or region that doesn’t allow same-sex interactions, and Tinder also has a paid subscription called Tinder Gold.

There’s no doubt that Tinder has its benefits, but it also has its downsides. It has been criticized for two main issues: safety and privacy. Dating or meeting new people online can be risky, you can be speaking with someone online but who’s really behind the phone? That’s a valid question to ask when meeting with someone you don’t know in real life. You can protect yourself by telling a couple of friends who you’re going out with and where to. Another good idea is to always meet with your date in a public place.

Regarding privacy, some security researchers found a flaw in which users’ precise location could be found. After that, Tinder made some adjustments to enhance the privacy of the site. In 2017 a journalist made an 800 pages-long document that explained in detail the amount of data Tinder collects from their users, including location, interests, messages and private data like phone numbers.

In cases of leaks and data breaches, all of this data could fall into the hands of ill-intentioned people, something most don’t really want. There are a lot of ways to protect your privacy: using a VPN, a private browser, being mindful of your online activities, or using a virtual number instead of your real number.

A virtual number, or Non VoIP number, is a technology that allows you to receive messages as if you had an additional phone. This is all managed through the internet. Not only is it convenient to access, but also allows you to bypass Tinder’s verification process without using your personal number. Your numbers can be located from anywhere in the world, meaning that you can get an account as if you were located in the US, for example.

In this guide we’ll tell you how to get and use one of our US virtual numbers to create your Tinder account. This guide is made for desktop users, but it’s worth noting that you can follow what is basically the same process on a smartphone.
